VideoSmaller is a video compressor for Android. Compression happens on your device. Your videos are not uploaded to us.
Accounts
The app does not create accounts and does not ask for a name, email, or phone number.
What stays on your phone
Compression history, output files you save, and settings (theme, default preset, notifications) are stored locally with Room and DataStore. Uninstalling the app removes that app data. Videos you save to shared storage remain until you delete them.
Internet
Compression does not need the internet. The app may use a connection for ads, Play purchases, and updates. Compression still works if those requests fail.
Permissions
- The system video picker, and video/media read where needed to open a file you chose or to find large videos
- Notifications for compression progress
- Foreground processing so a long encode can continue when you leave the screen
